The heart of the Utah Jazz was swiftly ripped out of its organization on Wednesday. That's correct, Deron Williams was the heart of the Jazz. He made the Jazz go. He was their constant. Now he will be wearing a new jersey in New Jersey. It's unfortunate for the Jazz's near future. One would say Deron would leave the Salt Lake valley after his contract expired regardless. That was the feeling D-Will left with Kevin O'Connor and Greg Miller which lead to his abrupt exit. Deron has every right to leave a team with management unable to finish putting the appropriate pieces around him (A scoring 2 guard would be nice). Now Deron's 21 points and 10 assists have left alongside his leadership, excellence, etc. The way the NBA is this day and age, teams that win championships have superstar players. Will one of the newest Jazz men Derrick Favors evolve into that player for the Jazz? It's obviously much too early to know. He's only 19. Even if Favors does become the new franchise face of Utah, it won't happen in the next couple years. With a great new coach in Tyrone Corbin also comes time to slowly incorporate a new (yet, still recognizable) system. Will Jazz fans have the patience to continue to wait for what they've been waiting for since the franchise arrived in Salt Lake City? Most likely. But one thing is for sure, a title didn't get any closer to Utah this week.
